The Governor's Ball
Still entirely in a state of awestruck after this past weekend on Randall's Island. Governor's Ball is considered by many the "Coachella of the East Coast" (at least that's what I heard someone on the train refer to it as). Friday's lineup included performances by Charli XCX, MØ, The Decemberists, ODESZA, St. Vincent, My Morning Jacket, Florence and the Machine, among others. Drake headlined the day with an after-dark set surrounded by lighted balloons lined across the sky and a huge crowd of the 'free spirit' type.
It was a day that felt like a dream. True story: I got a bit teary-eyed when Flo got us all jumping up and down and screaming out "happiness hit her like a bullet in the back" and joining in despite having a broken foot herself. The woman is a goddess.
There's something kind of amazing to being surrounded by individuals who are all effortlessly cool.
There's something kind of magical about the way music brings them all together.
Can't you hear the horses? 'Cause here they come....
