Not A Love Story

Today is February 14th, but you should know upfront, this is not a love story.
At least, not in the normal sense of the phrase.

Fall. In. Love. With. Your. Life.

We catch ourselves fixating on the trivial, exhausted idea of perfection--and we hold ourselves to the standards of pretty words and dreamy gazes, filling the pages we read and the movies we see. So involved we've lost touch with reality.

We're supposed to have all of this 'love' business figured out. And if not, it's supposed to provide us with all the answers. And so we wait. And we wait.

But if there's anything I've learned, it's that I'm still learning. I'll continue learning. And laughing, and hand-holding, and watching, writing, playing, listening, crying and shouting (at times), but always feeling something. Feel the sun on my cheeks, the warmth in my belly. The intoxicating hope for whatever comes next.

So I challenge you, encourage you to fall in love with life, and all it's imperfections:

The lost keys
The insomnia
The forehead pimple
The series finale
The coffee stains
The ripped underwear
The morning alarm
The lonely nights

Because if you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. [Wayne Dyer]

Here's a playlist to get you started, and last year's v-day picks, here.
Endless amounts of L-O-V-E to y'all.
